Coffee table love

| …took this coffee table to a whole new level – this is absolutely one of our favorite restores. Some would look at this and think it needs to go to the dump, but to me it is a treasure in the rough. Taking what seems to be ol’ bones and making a room shine with the pieces is what I love doing,

RUMMAGE & RESTORE

Letting it tell its own story one dent, one blemish, one stain at a time…. This table had been around for a while and had some good use, one board was raising up and had quite a few other problems, but to me it was a challenge accepted. The sweet people texted me a picture of the table and said they would love for me to restore the coffee table to be turned into something useful, not wanting to throw it out they entrusted it to me to take and use my imagination on it along with some good old fashioned sanding, and some good ol’ paint….

Lovely coffee table

My wheels were turning when I first picked the table up, it had great bones so I knew we had to get something to hold the board down, so I called my father-in-law on this project, and asked real sweetly if he had any old hinges (he always has the coolest old industrial parts that I like to take for my projects) and sure enough he delivered. They were parts of the barn my Aaron grew up in so
adding the vintage hinges from our old barn was a perfect touch.

The hinges already had that old paint from the red barn so we just sanded it a little and it gave them the perfect rusty red color, and we added knobs for hearth & hand with magnolia, spray painted them a “rusty red” and it matched amazingly

“times past” magnolia paint was the perfect grey color we chose, and then we distressed the heck out of every corner and crack. After we finished I brought it in our living room for its “photo shoot” to sell BUT….

my hubby took a liking to it and said “it is his favorite piece” and it’s part of the barn that he so loved growing up around, so it has never left its “photo shoot” spot. It has become the perfect living room piece

telling our farm story right in our sweet little living room…
